DIARY COVER COMPETITION

Attendance

Attendance Is Compulsory:

The Education Act requires that all students must attend school daily until the end of the year the student turns 15. A record of daily attendance must be kept by all teaching staff. This is a legal document and may be required to be produced in court.

Punctuality

It is essential that students be at school by 8:40am each day. They must also ensure that they are prompt to all classes. Problems arise causing disruption of classes if students are persistently late to school or class.

Absence

Absences for part of or all day, or for several days, must be covered by a written explanation or a phone call from the parent or guardian. These notes must be dated and specify the reasons for the absence/s. They should be brought to school by the student returning from a period of absence and handed in to the Care Group.

Where a student is absent for a prolonged period of time parents should contact the school as soon as possible.

SMS Notification

Students that are marked absent or are late without prior notification from parents are automatically placed in a database. This database is used by an SMS software system that will send a text to a nominated mobile phone number. This provides instant notification to parents.

Leaving The School Grounds

Students needing to leave the school grounds during the school day must report to the Fr ont Office before school with a note of authorisation from their parent / guardian. The student will be provided with a "Permission to Leave School Grounds" slip. This is presented to the class teacher at the appropriate time who will then arrange for the student to leave. Students should report to the Front Office to sign out prior to leaving the school grounds. Students should also sign in when returning to school.

Out Of Class Movement:

Any students moving around the school, during class time must carry a pass provided by the classroom teacher.

DRESS  CODE

Student Attire

At the establishment of Kinross College in 2001 the community developed amongst other things, the Kinross College logo and uniform. School uniform has many more pros than cons. Amongst the pros, is a critical safety factor that allows staff to see if there is an intruder on school grounds. This alone is enough to warrant the need for a uniform as student safety is the number one priority of all schools.
